Valentines Yarn Bomb with One Sheepish Girl

This year I have decided to take part in the One Sheepish Girl's yarn bombing event #onesheepishheart. This will be my first yarn bombing attempt and it has also been a great way to use up the ends of yarn I have from previous projects. I am making a few more hearts this week and I will then set up my printer to make some tags for them with the hashtag #onesheepishheart and then a few nice worlds of encouragement to the finders of the little hearts on Valentine's day.

1/12 of 2014

In January I:
Travelled business class from Dubai to Melbourne
Read "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg
Started the MY DREAM LIFE kit from Kikki K
Walked 247,649 steps with my Fitbit
Tried a Bikram Yoga class
Went to a hotrod show
Bought my first pair of Blackmilk Leggings
Decided to find a church to attend in Melbourne
Vowed to create a range to sell and start my own business
Successfully made hummus from scratch (and ate it all)
Celebrated Australia day in the sun with good friends and my man

My favourite quote from my January read "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg:

Not blatherings, a gateway

Each day I find myself blathering away in a somewhat fragmented internal monologue whilst I work, or walk the dog or surf the net. Each day I think why cannot I not just type this out - why can't these length discussions filled with insight, knowledge and good opinions get from my head to my blog posts?
A good friend of mine, and a fantastic writer, told me that my blog was a gateway, it wasn't full of mindless posts but a collection of things that I like, that reflect me.
With that in mind, and a new year upon us I will push myself to blog more and not be disheartened by a lack of pretty pictures, perfectly composed and lit.

Technology to help you get fit

This post should really be called - technology I really don't need but bought anyway.
Introducing fitbit flex; a powerful accelerometer that you wear 24/7 to track your activity (or lack there of), your sleep patterns, distance walked/ran and calories burned. So yes I hear you it is basically a fancy pedometer - but it acts as a constant reminder to me to move: to take the stairs instead of the lift, to walk to the shop instead of drive or walk Mr Frank Furter that extra bit each day(for his benefit AND mine!)
I also bought the wifi scales that sync my daily weight to my profile to allow me to track it on an awesome graph and see my BMI etc too. Since buying the flex and the aria scales 8 weeks ago I have lost over 3kg. I have another 12kg to go until I reach my goal but I am very happy so far.
There is a social aspect to the fitbit as well as it lets you track your steps against any friends that have a fitbit too so you can egg each other on or get an extra walk in at lunchtime to keep top of the leader board! The fitbit app also syncs to other fitness apps such as Myfitness Pal (this is really helpful as Myfitness Pal has a much better food diary and calorie library than the fitbit app if you are tracking your food).
Ok I better get going - have to go exercise!

NAILEMBER - Nailart for a good cause

Last night Lady B and I went along to Madambe Brussels on Bourke St to Nailember - a night of nail art to raise funds and awareness for women's health and well being projects. We were super excited to meet the faces and personalities behind the awesome nail art on instagram from the Super Rad Nail Sisters, Trophy Wife Nail Art and I Scream Nails - not to mention excited to get our nails did!

Lady B rocked an awesome Pineapple feature nail on her manicure while I opted for the more silly Shark feature nail manicure. The girls at Trophy Wife Nail Art did our nails and told us about their new studio on Bridge Road in Richmond that we are looking forward to going to visit.

After walking out of the room with our hands in the air trying not to smudge our mani's we sat down and enjoyed a pitcher or two of cocktails in the evening sun on Madame Brussels rooftop sun deck and then on to Toucé Ombré for yummy mexican dinner.

EPIC thursday me thinks! Thanks for the great night Lady B!
